It was a disappointing outing for our Hoppers Crossing 2nd XI, who fell short against Spotswood 2nd XI on Saturday at Donald McLean Reserve 1 - East.
Over the course of the match we totalled 10/151, and Spotswood 2nd XI 8/306. Arshan Azeem was the pick of our batters with 46 off 98 balls. Aarav Pandey contributed 24 off 70 balls. Adam Butterfield bowled superbly for the hosts, a five-wicket haul of five for 22.
With the ball, Bhaumik Jani did the damage, claiming three for 57 off 25 overs. Ahmed Raza offered good support with two for 50. Mubasheeruddin Jamal Mohammed posted a brilliant hundred for our opponents, finishing on 101. The hosts' best was a half-century from Charlie O’Dea, who made 62.
Plenty to take out of this one.
We'll go again.
