There was no joy for our Hoppers Crossing 1st XI, who were bettered by Spotswood 1st XI in VSDCA Seniors.
Our totals were 258, against Spotswood 1st XI's 279. Brett Smith was the star with the bat, compiling a terrific 103 not out off 133 balls with ten fours and two sixes. There were also handy runs from Simon Lambert (33). Credit to Sandeep Mandalika, who claimed a five-wicket haul (five for 67) for our opponents.
Arihant Rawal tore through the batting order, taking six for 58. The visitors' best was a half-century from Lachlan McKenna, who made 93.
Not our day, but there's plenty to work with. Plenty to work on, and plenty to like.
